I have to choose between those two schools, but which should I go for?

I love Berkeley's campus atomsphere and other social activities, but not guaranteed to Business. I am willing to make an effort to get into Haas, but Im not so sure that would worth to choose over CMU Tepper, which is also great biz school.

I am planning for MBA, so I might need some work experience right after undergraduate. Any ideas? Which should be a better choice?

If you’re a prestige-hoe, Cal Berk is the clear choice =p I’m a fresh acceptance this year to Tepper as well so take my words with a huge grain of salt. Perhaps a handful.

Costs are probably comparable unless you’re in state for Berkeley.

But the fact that Haas is supercompetitive to get in is kind of a turn off. Just because you’re “motivated” to work means you would be average amongst the thousands of other kids “willing to work” to get into Haas =p Not doubting your abilities, but there’s risk involved. On the plus side, if you DO get in, kudos to you! And perhaps you might even decide that business isn’t right for you, in which case you’ll have tons of other opportunities available in Cal.

Tepper: guaranteed admission is clearly a plus. what you lack in prestige at Tepper will probably be made up for by the smaller, intimate size of Tepper. Even then, it is my impression that Tepper’s rep isn’t bad at all, despite what all the Sternies and Haas kids like to think =p Work hard and you’ll land that good job, get decent experience, and get yourself into HBS or Stanford GBS.

I’m pretty sure MBA is what matters in the long run anyway…
