I am trying to choose between CMU Tepper School of Business or BC Carroll School of Management. I have looked at all the statistics, so I know that in terms of ranking, CMU is a lot better than BC. but BC just has a lot more advantages in terms of location and social life. I want to go into marketing and finance. I just don’t really know where would be a better fit.
The various rankings are neither precise nor absolute. Even the people that publish rankings would probably be horrified at the idea that someone is making a choice based on them. The 2 schools in question are both highly respected & capable of training you for a long and prosperous career.
Overall CMU is ranked higher than BC but that is not the case for their business schools.
Huh? CMU is a top 10 undergrad business program. Anyway, rankings are one consideration. OP, I would also consider cost.
@WildestDream No the link you have posted is for the US News rankings.

CMU is ranked 28th but BC isn’t even in these rankings.
Anyways, @collegetalk2018 it’s up to you. If you intend to major in marketing and finance, BC is a better place, as you said, because of location.
Don’t make your decision based on the rankings; make your decision based on what you want.
^ Which is why I posted the U.S. News ranking, which is generally seen as the most reliable…
From what I know Boston College has a very strong business school. We know a senior business major there now who has had great internships and had a job lined up for a while. Where do you want to spend 4 yrs?
