I want to go into pre-med / computer science.

Both schools have similar courses and are rated about the same.

I hope someone can contribute some first hand experiences...

I don't know what you've heard but CMU is a lot better for computer science (up there with MIT) for Ugrad.

CMU also has great pre-med placement and a lot of bio majors(according to last year's data) went to top grad schools (including Harvard Law and other law schools).

The research opps at CMU would be better as many kids on the SHS floor (pre-meds) have research opportunities and the kid across the hall is getting 6k over the summer for such a position.

Also, make sure you check out the environment. Brandeis is known for its roots in Judaism and its student population being mostly Jewish. The environments are different between there and here (here we study hard and party hard) while I would guess at Brandeis they don't support partying/drinking very much.

bummmmmmmmmp

I've heard positive / negative comments about both schools in terms of academics, weed out classes, social life, professor accesibility, research opportunities etc...

It's so frustrating that I'm even considering my state school to take the low cost route

While I may lean towards doing some geeky things, I also like to believe that I am not a hardcore nerd.

I also have the + of being jewish (?) so at Brandeis I wouldn't be a fish out of water

thehehehehehe

definitely Carnegie Mellon
