CMU vs Georgia Tech (Engineering, probable ECE)

So, I'm accepted at GT and waitlisted at CMU. I'm kind of torn as to whether I should even bother with the waitlist process. So this is purely speculative because odds are even if I accept the WL I won't get in BUT, why not?

How does GT compare to CMU in the Electrical and/or Computer Engineering Field? In terms of prestige, job opportunities, and just general...good..ness.

If CMU is the better one, do you think it's worth an extra 15k in tuition? My family has no financial constraints, but if it is not miles-high better, I may choose GT to save some coin for graduate school. :)

I have visited GT and I liked the campus and urban setting. I have not visited CMU.

Both universities are very comparable imo. I’d go by cost and fit.

Honestly, with waitlists, show some interest in the college and get your mind off of that college. Hype yourself up about one of the schools you were NOT waitlisted to. You’re going to be waiting awhile before you even hear if you can go to CMU, so it’d be best not to hype yourself up about it.

Check out Georgia Tech and see if you’re into it. If so, love it and go. If CMU happens to take you off the waitlist, what a pleasant surprise. You can then consider it versus Georgia Tech. But…waitlists are fickle things.
