I know this is in the Carnegie Mellon thread, but I'm trying to get both sides of the story before I make my decision.
I've narrowed down my college choices to Carnegie Mellon and Johns Hopkins, and I plan to major in biomedical engineering. CMU is very well known for engineering and gave me a $19,500 per year merit scholarship, but on the other hand, while JHU didn't give me any financial aid, the school has the best BME program in the country. I've read in some places that it is best to have some traditional engineering experience when going into BME, and I know that CMU has students double major in BME and another type of engineering (if I attended, I would probably go with chemical) and was wondering how crucial this experience is. Any thoughts on the two programs or the schools in general in terms of life as an undergrad (dorm experience, food, collaborative vs competitive atmosphere, etc)?
I'm torn between the two at the moment and plan to revisit both, but any input would be appreciated!

CMU is good for computers (very good indeed) and they also offer strong arts and that type so you can get an education not only in engineering but also a the arts and both are strong at CMU. JHU is know for medical stuff. They do have the number 1 BME major. If you are sure on being an engineer I would choose CMU because they have a good engineering school and they are giving you money. So those are my thoughts.
