<p>That's a very subjective question because the two schools are peers and there's no placement stats to show comparison. That said, NU's econ is generally considered top-10 and more highly regarded than CMU's. </p>
<p>NU has an academic internship program called Chicago Field Studies (CFS). Merill Lynch is one of the companies where CFS students intern on a regular basis:

<p>then again, the princeton review gives northwestern top-ten ratings for business while tepper isn't even on the list.</p>
<p>cmu's econ isn't in tepper, however.</p>
