I did try a search on these but can someone please compare the programs between CMU vs. OCU vs. BTP?
I know that CMU is very intensive and that it is sort of geared towards college auditions while OCU has a performance but does OCU also prepare you for college auditions.
Also, how about BTP? After surfing through its site I became more interested in it, but it is only 3 weeks, so is that enough? Also, does it help you prepare for college auditions? and Is it as intensive as CMU?

Another thing that really interested me was that they have these classes on how to survive as an actor, like agents, personal finance, etc and they have private acting lessons.

Does CMU or OCU have any of these?

Clay,

I assume you are thinking summer programs. I suggest you search these programs on the summer program thread (it is sticky at the top) and I believe you can find at least some of the answers- probably from those who are just returning from 2007 programs.

It's a matter of what you want in a summer program. At CMU, you don't do a production at the end; it's all geared toward skill building. I am pretty sure that there is a lot of skill building at OCU, but you also spend a lot of time rehearsing and performing a musical. Don't know much about BTP; as Mikksmom says, search the forums.

BTP, from what I hear, is extremely intense on the dance. One friend told me it was more like a dance boot camp.
I think it would be a great experience for getting ready for college auditions because a lot of the participants are college students working towards their BFA. That would be a great insight.

I believe that all 3 of these are very good summer programs. My son did OCU 2 years ago and BTP one year ago. Both were good experiences, both had classes all day long in all 3 areas of acting, singing, and dance, and both did have an ending show that was worked on mostly at night. Both probably help you well for college auditions and for preparing for the business.

I had also heard previous to my son's attendance that about BTP being heavy on dance - not necessarily true - very intensive, yes, but probably equal in all areas of interest, not just dance.

BTP is a bigger program and has students ranging in age from about 16 to 25. OCU's MT 3 week program is only for high school students and has a smaller number of students attending. CMU may be HS students only but is 6 weeks.

My son was glad he did both programs and was glad he did them when he did (OCU the summer before college auditions, BTP after HS graduation).

We have several friends who have been very pleased with doing the CMU summer program. It runs for longer and is more costly. OCU may be the best deal cost-wise.

There have been postings in the past about all 3 programs. I suggest that you search the threads.
