Hello. I have been stalking CC for a few months now. I read most of the previous CMU vs. Tufts or CMU vs. ____ threads. Some interesting points. But I face a dilemma.

I was accepted to both CMU and Tufts. I want to study cosmology and/or cognitive science and/or political science.

CMU seems very focused on science, very competitive, very pre-professional, and very intense/heavy workload. Tufts seems like it has a very liberal arts attitude; is fairly laid back; and would let me stretch out intellectually to a greater degree than CMU.

I have visited both campuses, and love both campuses. Both cities are excellent college towns.

I am a very social person, and need to get out and do things. But I love academics, and I love pursuing any of my interests. So is it worth going to CMU and never sleeping again? Or is it worth POSSIBLY losing some of the prestige and rigor for Tufts?

Where can I truly get the best of both worlds: academics and social life? Where would be best for my proposed interests?

Thanks.

~ A lost soul.
