I am international student.
PLs compare CMU(CIT Machatronics+CS double major) to Waterloo the same major.

CMU need to pay 50000 USD /year.
Waterloo got some scholarship pay 30000Cad/year.

Waterloo of course because it is in Canada!

Just kidding, both are excellent universities and I do not think that there is a wrong choice. Waterloo is very well known for computing and IT. CMU is simply a fantastic university in all fields.

CMU is probably the best school in the world for mechatronics/robotics and CS. It should be a no-brainer then.

Don't be so sure - Waterloo's mechatronics program is extremely strong - though CMU definitely beats it on CS. The other major factor to consider is Co-op - you'll be involved in it at Waterloo, so if it's a negative, don't go. On the other hand, if you'd really like it, then definitely go.

The issue of co-op is a good one to consider as outlined by 1of42. Certainly, unless you are in a rush to get your degree, co-op is great feature that can lead to FT employment.

Convert them into the same units and then look:

CMU: 50,000 USD
UWa: 26,736 USD

[I didn't realize how far the USD has fallen!!!]

They're both highly ranked CS schools with a large impact. Is the price differential worth a prestige gain?
