Design at CMU and undeclared at UCB (I was accepted for art but I'm looking at cog sci right now)

CMU is coming out to be a little more expensive than I expected, so Berkeley's on the table even though there isn't a design department. Design and cog sci are kind of on different ends of the spectrum, but I think I'd look for UX/UI related jobs as a way to get my foot into design. There's a good chance I'd go that direction if I majored in design anyway.

How's cog sci at CMU? I found some rankings for grad programs but ranking's really don't say too much.

I'm having a really hard time because the two options differ quite a bit, and, I don't know, it's just really overwhelming I guess. I'd really appreciate any help.
