CMU vs. UCLA for CS

Hi, I was admitted to CMU and UCLA for CS. I’m debating which program to attend, because I grew up in CA and really like it here, but I also know CMU has an amazing CS program. From my understanding, the best CS schools are CMU, MIT, Stanford, and Berkeley. From the CS program standpoint, CMU seems to be a much better pick than UCLA. Currently I’m leaning towards CMU, because both are viable options financially. What are the advantages/disadvantages and similarities/differences of the programs? Any advice/experiences would also be greatly appreciated!

I’ve committed to CMU!!! Just as an update, I did a lot of research on both schools and looked at both of the campuses. I fell in love with CMU, especially SCS. There are so many opportunities for robotics projects which is my interest and the interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum is awesome, so I’m super excited to learn there. The intense curriculum and nurturing culture at CMU is exactly what I’m looking for, and I look forward to starting school at CMU this fall.

Good choice. No question. Congratulations!

Good choice. Congrats!
