CNS Dean's Scholars

Hey,

I got admitted to the university a few days ago. I was wondering if you guys have any idea about when we find out about our admission to the Dean's Scholars Program at CNS?

It is possible you could find out later in march. However, I must say that all us CNS honor students had open houses earlier in the year so I believe most of us Deans/HSH already know.

Woah, you guys already found out? But then shouldn’t I be told that I didn’t get in?

See, I don’t know if everyone found out because not everyone went to the open house and it is pretty hard to say if they are done totally with the decisions. Calling them to find out would be a good option

Yeah I tried calling them. The Admissions Office is like anytime now, but the CNS person said that anytime before April 1st. Not clear. o.O

Hmm , those are some mixed signals! When I went to the open house in January not everyone was there so I imagined they weren’t done with the decisions and everyone there was the bunch that applied pretty early (I applied August 2nd, hooray for proactivity!). I wish I had more info for you but that is my best guess :stuck_out_tongue: If the admissions office told you the decisions are still coming out then they are still coming out. Why would they lie?

Haha yeah I guess I’ll just wait.

August 2nd? :open_mouth: You gotta be kidding me. :stuck_out_tongue:
I applied November 30th. :P

And congrats :D

congrats on HSH (and DS). late admit (week ago) and now waiting also. After reading about it, it looks really good for premeds and getting a leg up on CNS (due to vastness) and research\lab oppts. didn’t realize how very selective it actually is. Do you know how difficult and realistic it is to get into after first year? how difficult is it to get into FRI (into the program and as a path into HSH) thx

Well, any CNS Honor Student is by default enrolled in the FRI in the first semester. Are you asking how difficult it is to get transferred into the program after one year at UT Austin? I have no idea, that might be somewhere on the web site but I never stumbled upon it in my research. There is some good news, however, anyone at UT can be involved in the FRI but it is much more competitive for non-honors students to get into the class, so, if you want to do research then I suggest signing up for the very first orientation. Good luck though! To both of you.
