Co-ed Dorms?

How are the coed dorms at UNC?I mean,do guys and girls have rooms next to each other and share the same bathroom?
I'm from a very conservative family, and my parents don't want me to stay at coed dorms.but almost all dorms at Carolina are coed, except kenan. Are there any other all girls dorm at Carolina which is on North campus? And kenan is a north campus dorm, right? How do u know which dorms are on north campus and which are on south?

I think you mean Parker not Kenan which is on central campus and is all girls (I'll be living there next year. ) On north campus there is Manly (ironic I know) which is all girls and hall-style housing. It's pretty nice, I spent the night there during connect Carolina. As far as Co-ed dorms, I know in south campus they sometimes do it by floor (Guy floors then girl floors alternating) Which means no bathroom sharing, especially if you end up in a suit because I'm almost positive suites are always one sex.

The all-female dorms on campus are Aycock (North campus-hall), Kenan (North campus-hall), Manly (North campus-hall), and Parker (middle campus- suite). I know they all have separate guys and girls bathrooms, but as far as living arrangments beyond a suite or a room, idk if the whole hall would be all girls or all guys or not---I've lived off campus both years. Outside of your suite, the neighboring suite could be guys though...it seems to me like on a hall (from what I remeber of the on campus dorms I've been in) that they would have to be all guys or all girls---I only remember seeing one bathroom.

Our only first hand experience is with the directional dorms...Morrison South now called Hardin I believe.

In those dorms two rooms share a bath. Our two years there the halls were arranged so that the rooms pretty much alternated two guys rooms then two girls rooms etc. In the older tower type dorms like Hinton James, there are hallways or entrances made up of four rooms that all share a bath. In this case it's all of one sex down a particular hallway or entrance and I believe that the next hallway/entrance is the opposite sex where possible. UNC does not have any dorms with shared baths for men and women as some schools in the Northeast do.

Some dorms on south campus are suitestyle dorms.Do guys and girls have their rooms in one suite?

The suite-style dorms on South have 'all girl' suites alternating with 'all guy' suites as eadad mentioned. 4 students, same gender to a suite...no girls and guys sharing bathrooms.

The north campus dorms I know of like Cobb, Alderman, Connor are separated floors for sexes and floor baths are single sexed. There are also visitation considerations which may make your parents a little more comfortable.

You can get 24 hour visitation to No visitation I think. So pick a dorm you like, then pick a visitation you want....You might spend MORE time picking a roommate that doesn't want overnighters with a boy constantly....roommate finder....that is probably a bigger problem than which dorm.
