Hi folks I'm heading to umich as a freshman this fall, and I'm a guy.

The truth is, I think it's more interesting if I live close to girls but I wonder how many freshmen actually select the "Co-ed Corridor" option?

For those staying in one, what's the guy-to-girl ratio like in the co-ed corridor?

I'm asking this because they only allocate people into co-ed corridors when requested. Else they'll just put people in single gender corridors. How is it like over there?

There are more single-gender corridors than co-ed, I believe, and a lot of students select the co-ed option. Not every student that selects this gets put in a co-ed hall. The co-ed halls are about 50/50.

I’ve lived in a single gender hall this year, and will be in a co-ed hall next year. Honestly, I don’t think it’s been any different than if I was in a co-ed hall. While we’re an all-guys hall, there are two all-girls halls within a stone’s throw away, so while they aren’t adjacent to our rooms, they’re still just right around the corner. I’m not entirely sure, but I don’t think any of the co-ed dorms have any single-gender floors, just halls. So even if you aren’t in a co-ed hall, your floor will be. It really doesn’t make much of a difference.

I can’t answer your question about the triple or quad. All I know is that it’s a potential option if you want to save some money and if you don’t value your privacy very much.

^Not a big deal, but I’m fairly certain that two entire floors of my dorm are single sex, one all guys, one all girls. However, just because I live on the all girls one, obviously doesn’t mean I don’t see guys all the time. So it doesn’t really make much of a difference either way. Just do what you want :-)

Btw I’m gonna do engineering. Which hall would you recommend me to stay in? Is it true that most freshmen stay near North Campus? If so which of the 4 North Campus would you recommend me to stay in?
