I recently applied to this school and I was wondering if any current students could tell me if they do co-ops or if it is easy to get interships?
Also if any alumni could tell me if employers outside of Chicago area know about IIT?

My daughter is an IIT engineering student. She has had no trouble finding internships, with multiple offers, including offers in the pacific northwest. We meet people all the time who have heard of IIT, and we live in the Southwestern US.
That’s good to hear I was worried that would’ve heard of the school when I went to apply for jobs. Does your daughter find the academics at IIT to be challenging?
Speaking as a professor at Illinois Tech, yes, the academics are challenging but we have many students who do very well too. Students can easily find internships and even co-ops, the semi-annual career fairs are always full of employers.
While many of our alumni stay in the region, we have a significant number of alums all over the country. Engineering and architecture firms are well aware of IIT.
Yes, the academics are challenging. She was a top student in high school, and remains so at IIT, but not without putting in the very necessary hard work to earn her grades.
