Co-op

Hi everyone!

I recently got accepted in Georgia Tech. I am an OOS student and have EFC of 0. So, I wont be able to afford it without scholarships etc.
My stats arent bad..but they arent very good either.
So, I am not sure how much merit based scholarship I will get..but something tells me not much. My federal loans + pell grant will accumulate only to around 8000$ per year. Their estimated cost of living is around 35,000$ so its definitely not enough.
So, I am wondering, if I could go to G. Tech with their co-op program. And does co-op program really helps you financially?

One bright thing about my future is that my sister will soon start earning in 2-3 years..so even if I could somehow manage it for 2-3 years..I should be able to make it through. So will co op really work for me? Or am I risking a lot?

I don’t think so. You have to pay for your college costs in advance.

I think the COA for OOS GT is about $40k for this past year. Next year will likely be higher.

What are your stats? If they aren’t high for GT, then the change of a good FA package and/or scholarships is small.

What in-state schools or private schools did you apply to?

my stats…gpa around 3.9 uw.
sat: math: 750, cr: 560 writing: 630…(english is not my native language)

I’m concerned that your stats aren’t high enough for a good scholarship. Your Math is great, but your CR is weak because English isn’t your primary language.

What is your home state? Are you a green card resident or citizen?

Where else did you apply?
