Coalition App or Apply Texas?

Son will be applying out-of-state to UT Austin. All of his other school choices use the Common App, so he will have to start a new one either way. Are there any pros or cons to using Coalition App vs Apply Texas App?

UT Austin’s on the Coalition purely for convenience—many other schools use the Coalition and students are more likely to apply if they don’t have to start a different application. There may be some differences in the number of extracurricular activities/space devoted etc, so you can preview the application for yourself here:

Very helpful, thank you!

@Villandry I had the same question. Daughter applying OOS and all other schools are common app. She ended up using Apply Texas and the process seemed clunky, but that could be the way it meshes with UT’s My Status system, I don’t know. My son last year used Coalition app for everything and it was great. I actually liked it better than Common app, but for some reason thought Apply Texas might be more suitable. It’s all done now, so onward and upward!
