I recently used the Coalition application to apply to the University of Maryland, College Park. I submitted my application before the Nov 1 early action deadline. The Coalition checklist took about a week to update and confirm that all of my documents and materials had been officially submitted. Unfortunately, once the checklist updated (a few days after the deadline), I learned that my school counselors had sent my transcripts, but not my teacher and counselor recommendations to UMD.
The checklist says the application was submitted by Nov 1, but the application “completion date” was Nov 6 because the recommendations had not yet been submitted.
My only chance at affording UMD’s OOS tuition is to receive significant merit aid, and as far as I know, applicants have to meet the Nov 1 deadline in order to be illegible for merit aid. My question is will my application still be considered for early action admission and merit aid even though the “completion date” is later?
I have emailed the office of admissions, but any information here would be appreciated. Thank you.
Once you identify the name of the regional admissions representative from the link @SoofDad provided, you can find their email address using this directory search https://identity.umd.edu/search
I had an issue on 10/31. I thought my counselor and teacher wouldn’t submit their parts of my application by 11/01. I emailed the office with my concern and they told me " Given what you outlined below, your application will be considered meeting the freshman priority deadline as long as we receive all your documents no later than November 22nd." This would have been a huge relief for me, had they not emailed me after 11/01! (My school ended up sending everything on the 1st).
On the Coalition, my complete date is 11/03 even though everything was sent latest 11/01 and it is indicated as so on the other items of the Checklist. I do believe, though, that they will still consider me as an early applicant and they may do so for you, but your safest bet is to email them. I emailed them at applymaryland@umd.edu . Good luck!
@lemonsforeyes Ok thank you and everyone else who responded. Haven’t really followed up with UMD since they aren’t the highest on my list of colleges. Everything is looking good now though!
