Coca-Cola Scholarship - 2008-2009

Haha, no, I don't know personally... that's just what my college counselor told me...

yea, I would like to know more about that as well. I wonder if you can find out from you college counselor ICfireball

I'll ask for more details...

Ok so...

The reason the Coca Cola scholarship really helps apart from the money is that Coca Cola is actually invested in their scholars doing well. As a Coca Cola scholar, you are expected to menor future scholars, etc. The Coca Cola scholars program provides a community of fellow scholars which is great for networking and can help with job opportunities.

Also, for those interested, the grading rubric from some years ago:

http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/5163/cocacolaoy8.pdf

That rubric seems to place a great deal of emphasis on leadership and service in school and community. The essay is only weighted once.

that's good info. thanks.

yea, the networking and job interviews part sounds great! Now we just have to win lol

Hey icfireball, do you know what the average # of points was of the winner of the coca cola award? And what made something "excellent" on the rubric? Thanks for all your help

double post.

X_x college confidential does that sometimes.

I don't know anything about the average number of points for winners, sorry.

And I can't answer what makes something "excellent" definitively, except just something that is really impressive (i.e. national impact, etc.).

I wonder if you can find out the average # of points from the person who gave you the rubric IC?

I wonder if you could find out from your college counselor icfireball?

Nope, that info isn't available. Sorry!

WOW! I just stumbled upon these posts for the coca cola! they sure woulda been helpful when I was filling it out!!! lol is anyone else having a really hard time waiting for the results?! I know they haven't judged them yet but still! I cant wait and good luck to everyone!!!!

Well at least we only have to wait until February... Personally I'm super nervous. I just got a scholarship rejection from one of my universities and I don't know why...Which only serves to make me very self-concious.

I know I am nervous too!! I have never spent so much time filling out one application ever! lol I haven't gotten any scholarship rejections yet but then again I haven't actually won any either.....just like they saying that I am a semifinalist or that I'm not eliminated yet but im sure in time I'll lose a lot lol what state are you from? I wonder if we'll know right after February 2nd, or if they will actually make us wait til the 11th.....

Hello Everyone,
I wish that I could have found this board before, I too am a semifinalist. Good luck to everyone!

It was such a long application. I think they should really just give us all scholarships for just filling it out, j saying.

deadness on the cola thread bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Coca Cola Scholar Foundation is going to start reading applications next weekend. I got an email today from the Vice President and she said there was something missing from my app (but it's all ok now, just a little misunderstanding on their part...). She said they were preparing all of the apps to be read next weekend! ahhh...nervous.
