Was electrical engineering your first or second choice at ut austin?

Accepted chem. engineering this morning. Now waiting on Honors. Sat 2230 Math 800 Chem 790

admitted to UT today, but not to engineering and no $. i hear it is so hard to transfer schools. probably going elsewhere where I’m in engineering and offered $.

@jklopj

Applied for Electrical Engineering
Also applied for Turing Hons in Computer Science
Received both may opt for Turing hons.

Heard yesterday that S got in to computer science - second choice. First choice was ECE.
Will probably go elsewhere depending on $$.

Congrats on your son’s acceptance to ECE
My son did too.
We are also in the same boat as US applicants from overseas. Where is your boy in HS?
My son was schooled in 4 continents for the last 12 years but he is going home to Austin!
We are very excited.

I got accepted in architectural engineering yesterday and I’m super surprised! I am in state, but not top 8% (I’m 18%) so I’m so surprised and grateful!

EC’s/ etc: HOSA 4 years, Math UIL 2 years. A lot of japanese involvment, and volunteering in japan (and in general), fundraising, internship for energy company.

I was probably admitted holistically, (from mexico, low income, etc) but either way, I am beyond grateful! The top 8% thing scared me to death.

@Ialex90, same here… He was born and brought up in Austin for the first 8 1/2 years of his life and now we are abroad. We are excited as well but waiting to hear from another 2-3 colleges.

BTW, it is a pain to be an expatriate and deal with fin aid (either FAFSA or PROFILE/IDOC) because the financial years don’t match and we usually file our US tax returns around Jun because of the automatic extension for international tax filers. Sigh.
