I'm 25, 23, or 21 out of 549, I have a +3.7 GPA (unweighted), 1220 (CR+M yeah it sucks) on SAT and taking SAT II in Oct. most likely going to be +600, I'm in Student Leadership (voting for positions next yr.), UIL rep. for Comp. App., V Track for 3 years, over 130+ hrs in volunteering, and little job experience. I'm in state, we avg. 5-7 people that go to UT from Mesquite HS. So what are my chances of getting in? I'm a 09' grad btw.

100% your into UT? Your top ten percent in Texas, and you can just send them your current transcript. Technically speaking, if you just send your transcript before your fall semester is over, your guaranteed into UT.

Your SAT is a bit low for engineering, mind asking you what race you are? Just try and get that SAT up and your set. If you can manage to get it above 1300 its golden.

Its hard to say for sure, because your on a cusp, though if you keep your rank above top 5% you should be good even disregarding your SAT score.

i think you need to be top 3.5% to be guaranteed into engineering, so try to raise your class rank a few more spots

Admissions for most competitive majors is based ONLY on class rank. For McCombs business, you need to be top 3% most years. Engineering is just as competitive. You are guaranteed admission to UT if you apply with that rank, but you'd probably end up in Natural Science unless you bump the rank up to the low to mid teens.

I think he will still get in with top 4-5% with those ECs.

sorry i've been trying to find a job :), i'm asian, and I think my rank will be 19 or 17 by next year due to friends leaving and about 220//549 of my class failed the TAKS so some of them might drop out or will have to retake their junior year.

I'm a horrible test taker :( btw, but I can easily get back to a 1300 no sweat.. I've never made below a 600 on CR until this test and I should improve my math from a 660 to 700 hopefully :(
