After one semester (assuming first semester), what's the difficulty of transferring from CoE to L & S? Currently taking E7 (intro to comp programming) and it is kicking my butt (and is boring alongside with that), and there's no way I can imagine myself doing this anymore on a frequent basis, and now I'm more interested towards a Bio/Chem (pre-med) major. What do they look at when considering the transfer ? What is the general acceptance rate?
I know they look at:

GPA for that semester,
personal essay that you write explaining your reason for transferring out of CoE,
units (if more than 60),

Transferring out of CoE shouldn’t be a problem; it’s vice versa that most people need to worry about. Colleges like CoE and CoC–people “drop out” into L&S really easily. (Not to say that all people who leave such majors are forced out–some just realize it’s not for them and are happier elsewhere.)

Don’t worry. Just fill out the paperwork. I’m sure your GPA won’t be so horrible that L&S will deny you admission. If you’re worried about doing badly, you could change your classes to P/NP. I know someone who left CoC recently. He had three P/NP classes (chem 112, physics 7B, math 53) and one humanities class for letter grade that semester.

E7 is pretty tame for a programming course, though I can imagine how it might be difficult if you don’t have any programming experience. The lectures are probably the most inefficient way I can imagine to learn new material.
