CoE vs. LSA

Which of the two are more selective, and also which is more subjective ?
I just want to understand this overqualified applicants getting rejected stuff ...

I was accepted to CoE with a 2090 and 3.8 GPA and very good ECs and Essays.

Congrats!
CoE is more competitive than LSA. Last year, the admission rate for CoE was around 20% while for UMich overall (mostly LSA) was 32%.

Actually, if its true that CoE acceptance was 20% last year, then LSA must have been > 32%, as the overall acceptance rate was stated to be 32%… Wish they would break it down by school.

Thanks ! @billcsho‌
any idea what the acceptance rate would be around this year ?

ss, there is no such thing as “overqualified” applicants at Michigan. When your mid 50% of admitted students have unweighed GPAs of 3.8-4.0 and SAT/ACT ranges of 2030-2270/30-34, even 4.0 students with 35+ACT/2300+SAT are not overqualified.

Your GPA and test scores are slightly lower than the average, but well within the range. Congratulations on your acceptance. I am sure it is well deserved.

@ss124081 are you in-state or out-of-state?
