?Cofnusion about requirements for Track Recruiting?

Men's Track Recruiting Guidelines

These guidelines confuse me. What if my time is fast enough, but I did not make varsity for the required amount of years? For instance, my time qualifies me for division 2, but I only ran varsity for two years.
Please help.

That’s not a problem. Some runners switch from soccer, lacrosse, etc. Have you been contacted by any college coaches?

Please also note that these are only guidelines. For example, the IVY league is in division one school and you can see they recruit sprinters who are below the tier 2 guidelines set out. YOu will not know for certain unless you contact the coaches. It may just be they need the specialty and you luck out.

Generally, if you research the current team members whom are seniors on the college roster, you can determine which events or positions may need filling. Looking at the PRs, and the end of season meet results, and comparing them to your own PRs will give you an idea if you are competitive.

what do the different tiers mean?

I think the tiers are somewhat subjective. If you want to sprint at Florida or run distance at Oregon, you’ll need tier 1 marks (or better). If you have your sights set on a lower visibility program, tier 2 may suffice.
