Cognitive Science vs. Bioengineering

I am going to go straight to the point. I love the human mind and everything about it, and for right now I am at a community college taking all of the prereq's for an undergrad degree in Bioengineering at a UC.

My goal in life is to have a career that I love, and nothing gives me more passion than life itself. My problem is that I would like to have a career that also that will make me successful money-wise as well as satisfaction-wise.

I love technology, and technology that is related to the brain. Because of this interest that I have I was thinking of going into bioengineering, but after finding out how so much of the things I would learn in this major might end up being useless I would like to see what you people think of Cognitive Science.

Cognitive science directly assesses all of the areas I find interesting, but I am completely unsure if it will get me anywhere in the future.

I am pretty well rounded; I love math and sciences, but at the same time I love English and Philosophy. I don't know which way I can go so that I can incorporate my love of science and neural life together.

I am so confused! Thank you for any help!

Bump. I’m in dire need of insight guys.

Whoever told you most of the stuff you learned in bioengineering are going to end up useless?

I think I worded that wrong. I meant to say that my interests are more compelled to the likes of cognitive science compared to bioengineering, because I want to directly know the problems/functions of the brain and how technology can be used to find that out. I understand that bioengineering is not useless, and actually is beyond useful.

From what I understand about these kinds of majors, you’ll probably need a PhD to work in indsutry or academia. Therefore it probably doesn’t matter which one you pick because you’ll still need further education.

What I have heard is that a Masters degree will do the job for Bioengineering. So I want my undergrad related.

Bump. Bump. Bump =). I’m way too curious
