Hey guys, anyone how popular the Cognitive science major is at Hopkins

Don’t quote me on this but I’m pretty sure it’s not very popular. Most students interested in that kind of stuff end up majoring in either Neuroscience or Psychology, and CogSci seems like it gets sort of left in the middle somewhere. I honestly don’t know any CogSci majors. With that said, I took a course called “Cognition” freshman year with Professor Wilson and it was awesome. Just because there aren’t a lot of people in the program doesn’t necessarily mean it’s not a great program.

Yea, that’s what I was thinking. I applied as a Cognitive Sciences major in the ED round. I know Hopkins does not accept by major, but do you think it helps my chances?

No. Hopkins doesn’t admit to a major, only BME makes a difference.

I don’t know if it matters how many people major in Cog Sci if its essentially a combination of psychology and neuroscience. Computer Engineering has very few majors, but it’s essentially a combination of electrical engineering and computer science, so it uses the resources/classes of both those programs.

Yea, I remember reading about the CogSci major on the Hopkins website. Seems like a combination of neuroscience and psychology.

Thanks for the input
