Is it stupid to double major in cognitive studies and psychology? I know they are very similar fields, so would it be dumb to major in both? Or are they different enough that it will actually be worth the time and effort put in to do this...

Depends on what you are interested in I suppose. If your interest are in broader psychology just major in psychology and take some courses in cognitive psychology or neuroscience. If you’re more interested in studying human cognition I would think doing a double in something like comp sci or neuroscience would be more complimentary.

Why don’t you ask your adviser to map out a four year degree sequence and then decide? I know a couple of people double majoring in NBB (Emory’s version of cog sci) and psych. I don’t think they’re having trouble fitting in all of their degree requirements into four years, but it might vary by school.
