I'm finally enrolled in cogs1 for this Winter quarter with Rik Belew. He didn't add me to the website he has until now so I missed the first week of quizzes. As for the class itself, I'm sure many of you know it is run by a series of lecturers with what I presume, Belew coming up with a myriad of questions for the exams. I wanted to take cogs1 as an easy GE and as I have taken Psyc1 last quarter with an A grade, I assumed that cogs1 would be similar. I've heard a lot of differing opinions on the difficulty of this class so I was wondering what the opinions of those on CC were (for those of you who have taken this class or know anything about it; i.e type of questions, curve, %A's.)

thanks for your time.

PS- He has us do assigned readings on the web as a supplement for each lecture. From what I've read, they are largely anecdotal and less conceptual/factual. Will these be given equal weight on the exams as the lecture themselves? Thanks again.

I took it with Creel fall quarter of last year, her questions sucked because they were vague and ambiguous. I think there was no curve and all the questions were multiple choice.

its just difficult because there is a lot of different material coming from a huge variety of subject areas.

So far from what I can tell of the class is that the readings are only to help further your understanding of the material, but as far as the online quizzes go, I’ve only seen 1 or 2 questions max on that come from the reading. And youre right, the questions based on the reading are more conceptual than the other ones.

But Belew said that if we knew the material on the quizzes that we will do just fine on the Midterms, so I’m assuming that he’ll pull out questions from these and put them onto the Midterms (along with adding in some new questions). Also know that the online quizzes are completely part of your participation grade. Unless you get a 100% on them (which you should be able to since you can take them an unlimited amount of times) you wont get any credit for them
