When I applied on Common App that was an option. I have no idea what that means now.

@tptptp We aren’t sure what it means now either. They do provide an email address to reach out to if you have any questions. If you are trying to decide whether or not to include additional information, it might be worth contacting Admissions first so that you can make sure to include the most relevant information possible for them.
I got the same message too, did they send this to everyone???
I’m pretty sure it means the dual engineering program they offer with Dartmouth and Columbia.
Engineering Dual-Degree Programs
Interested in engineering but want to attend a liberal arts college? At Colby you can do both. Our dual-degree programs allow you to graduate from Colby and obtain an engineering degree from either Dartmouth College or Columbia University.
Colby has an active dual-degree program, with typically 8-10 students being admitted to the programs each year. That means if you decide to pursue engineering at Colby, there will be a cohort of students undertaking the same preparation and attending the same program.
For that program, your might choose physics for your major at Colby.
Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with the comments but did everyone get the email about the Colby College Pulver Science Scholars Program like 20 minutes ago?
Yes I just got it. Does anyone have any idea what the conversation they ask you to sign up for might entail? Is it like an interview?
I imagine it is similar to if not an interview but i dont know
@letmeinpleaseee It probably only went out to Science/Math/Tech majors? My DS is looking to join their History program so it wouldn’t be applicable to him. He did not get the Pulver email.
That makes sense
Hi all, has anyone received an email about the presidential scholars program? I wonder what this means in terms of admissions. Is this something that people all receive or more of a selective nature? Thanks in advance for replying.
If I haven’t done any scientific research in high school do you think it’s even worth it to sign up for a conversation? I put my first choice major as Biology (potentially pre-med) and I would like to be involved in research in college, but I’m not sure what I would talk about in an interview for such a selective program
That might be a good sign. My son hasn’t received any invitation for scholarships, but an invite for additional information
I did not receive an email about it so it must be somewhat selective
Thank you for the information. Best of luck to your son in the admissions process!
Thank you for the information. Best of luck to you in the admissions process!
From the Colby Admissions Website “The Presidential Scholar designation is one of the only academic honors that Colby confers on students before they enroll. Every applicant to Colby is considered for the Presidential Scholars Program.”
It does not say that I got into the program. Instead, it only asks me to select a project of interest. In fact, it even says this in the email:
“Please note: The Presidential Scholar selection process is entirely separate from Colby’s holistic admissions application review. In the coming weeks your application will be closely reviewed by our admissions committee, and you will receive your admission decision by April 1.”
So I was unsure about whether this means anything or not. Still, thank you very much for the information.
Looking back on threads from previous years, it seems like this email can almost be considered a likely letter. In the past, everyone who has received this email was admitted RD. Logically, it seems unlikely that they would email you about being considered for this program if they weren’t even planning to accept you to the school. Congratulations!
