I’ve submitted my fin aid docs in December and they were marked as received by 12/25/2020, but I found the date changed and it became 3/5/2021
@Abdulrahmansoli None of the dates changed for me in the Colby portal for admissions of financial aid, I just checked after you posted. (I actually check the portals for all of the schools I’m waiting to hear from every day just in case something good happens!) I think I’m one of the unlucky people they aren’t sure about because they asked me for “additional information” in a email instead of telling me I got a scholarship. Seems like they probably don’t like my app much if they wanted more info. Good luck to everyone. BTW @PerformingDude I see you in a lot of the topics and schools I’m checking to. lol. How many schools did you apply to?
neither…
Hey! Getting additional information isn’t a BAD sign! The presidential scholar email is pretty rare so not getting one doesn’t mean you have a poor chance of getting in. It’s kind of Colby’s version of a likely letter: getting one means you are a top applicant and you are likely to be admitted, but it is only sent out to a small portion of the admitted applicant pool! Don’t be discouraged!
I applied to 17 schools, so yes you probably saw a lot of me on LAC pages! I should stop being so involved lol. In case you wanted to know my list:
Amherst
Bates
Bowdoin
Brown
Colby (likely letter/pres. scholar email!)
Conn College
Harvard (lol)
Ithaca
McGill (accepted!)
Middlebury
NYU
Oberlin
Sarah Lawrence
University of Southern Maine (accepted Music Ed. with full ride!)
Vassar
Williams
Yale (also lol)
PM if you want to connect! I’d love to meet a potential future classmate!
We overlap on 4 schools (definitely not Harvard or Yale though - lol). I didn’t apply to any ED or EA. I haven’t been lucky enough to get any likely letters or early writes from anyone though. The University of Southern Maine sounds like a great offer! Full ride anywhere has to be at least something to consider - congrats on that and the McGill acceptance.
Are we thinking March 15th for decisions? maybe march 12th?
According to this thread on CC Colby RD 2024, they released on March 20th last year about 5 PM on the portal. They posted on Facebook and Instagram when decisions would be released.
hopefully march 19th then
Hopefully March 12th lol
yeah I just reallyyy want to know if I got in or not. It would be such a great option!
Don’t sweat about the Likely Letters! It is rare to get even one! I have seen SOOO many videos were people don’t get any LL or Early Writes and get into Ivy League and crazy selective LAC schools! Thank you for the congrats! USM isn’t QUITE a full ride ($37,064 total IS tuition - $20K president’s scholarship - $16K music talent scholarship = $1064 total), but I like the sound of full ride better! I am sure you will get into so many great schools. Which schools do we have in common (besides Colby lol)?
BTW, I just checked out your chance post. You seem like SUCH a qualified applicant for these schools! The fact that you already got into 3 of the 12 is wonderful and I am sure there will be more acceptances coming your way! I also understand if you don’t want to share the other mutual schools to avoid the judgment. I promise I won’t judge (plus you are obviously a qualified candidate for any selective school), but I also want to respect your privacy
All you need is one outside scholarship from someplace and you can call it a “full ride”.
haha true lmao
Wow! I applied to Bates, Midd, NYU, Oberlin, Colby, Vassar, Williams, and Yale (lol) that’s quite an overlap haha… I am a cellist:)
WOW that’s crazy! EIGHT! Hopefully we get into the same schools and maybe end up in the same class!
@PerformingDude You’re going to have a built in circle of friends before you even enroll in a college from all the folks you are meeting in the forums.
Yoooo! I’m an international student who also got the presidential email colby thingy too! its nice to know that my application isn’t utter garbage! My list also looks like urs but my ECs are more STEM/Music based
Yes just to say not getting a likely letter is no big deal. My son was accepted to Colby in 2018 regular round with no advance notice. He is there now and loves it. Just hoping his sister can get in this year too!
Well, it is a pretty big deal to those who get it (I danced around the house for around 30 minutes), but you are totally right that not getting one is not consequential to one’s chances of getting in the regular decision date!
