moving on to warmer climate!

Should have applied at MIT, where they have literally a 99% chance of accepting the students like me.
So how hard is it to get off the waitlist?
Waitlisted here!
ACT: 34 (35 superscore)
GPA: 4.0 UW
Thoughts: I definitely didn’t have any demonstrated interested and I applied just to potentially have another financially feasible option if I got in - no true attachment to Colby so they prob sensed that. Declined my spot on the WL so hopefully it’ll increase other people’s odds!
My S waitlisted. 'International" graduating from US high school. Applied for Financial aid. 3.97 (Unweighted GPA), 8 Aps , SAT 1550, 3 subject tests (all 800) average EC (with Varsity sport). Waiting to hear from Swarthmore college this evening!
D wait-listed. SAT 1520, 5.0 W GPA, music, girl scout highest rank, lots of other EC. She did not show any interest or interview.
Rejected.
1430 SAT
CLASS RANK:2
GPA: 4.0
Tons of ECs, great recommendation letters.
I’ve only been accepted by safeties but I was accepted to Rutgers Honors College so I feel great about that.
Felt like my aid requirement was too much for them to guarantee considering my application is not so competitive.
Denied
1500 SAT
GPA UW: 3.8
GPA W: 5
Decent ECs
7 AP classes including senior year.
I think it was two years ago that Colby was over-enrolled (higher-than-expected yield), so perhaps they are still a little shy on their admissions and relying more on their wait-list…(?)
Rejected . 1420 sat and good grades I guess . I’m an international student who needed full financial aid so I guess that got in the way . I’ve been rejected by 2 colleges thus far and accepted by one that I can’t afford to go to . I’m so scared and I’m really hoping that things go better for me with the other colleges remaining
ACCEPTED
Okay this came to a complete surprise. I was SO surprised. This literally goes to show that grades do not actually matter as much.
SAT: 1390 (umm… I know)
GPA: 4.15 (weighted)
Rank: My school does not rank, but I am in the top 10 percent.

- Started an ESL Program for women at my cultural center + volunteer teacher
- Quran teacher at 2 schools

Financial Aid: YESSS. I am very low-income.
College Essay: 9/10
My English teacher told me it was the best one she had read, but I guess I am just critical of everything. I wrote about my identity and how my unique way in wearing the hijab is representative of it.
Recommendations: 9/10
Of course I can not read my recommendation letters, but I definitely get the sense that they were great. The teachers that wrote them for me know me very well.
BTW: I wish the best for everyone in these next couple weeks of decision making!!!
D accepted as a Presidential Scholar. 1560 SAT, 102W GPA. Visited and had contact with admissions (but didn’t interview). Financial aid better than NPC. Very excited!
Waitlisted
UW GPA: 3.25
W GPA: is probably high 3s maybe very low 4s.
ACT: 30
ECs: Excellent. Captain varsity soccer 3 years (played all four), Captain varsity volleyball 3 years (played all four), varsity basketball 3 years ( JV as a freshman), Model UN, Student Ambassador, Volunteered for a congressional campaign, and worked in a restaurant in Paris.
Essay: Also very, very good.
Recs: Probably very good
My school: Does not rank. Elite private school in New York City. I am also an IB diploma candidate, so I take all IB classes and 4 HLs so my weighted gpa is probably pretty decent.
Don’t need financial aid.
I probably got waitlisted because my Mom went to Colby. Probably going to accept spot on the waitlist.
Kind of seems like they waitlist more than they deny???
No, I think people are less likely to post about rejections.
Son accepted, Presidential scholarship
1590 SAT, 4.34 gpa
no interview
Waitlisted of course, getting used to it! 33 ACT, 4.25 gpa, salutatorian
Colby has been overenrolled the last two years at least. Not sure the class size they are now aiming for (used to be 480-500) but class of 2021 had around 550 freshmen and I believe the class of 2022 is around 580 freshmen. Very little waitlist movement if any. Kids were being asked to consider taking a gap year right up thru August.
