Waitlisted as an international student. Spent last year studying in the US with exchange program, weighted GPA 4,67. 34 ACT, 5s in 3APs, 3 SAT II with score 800. 4 medals in National olympiads of Bio, Chem, languages in my homeland. Bio research, extracurriculars (piano competitions, international choir tours, programming diploma etc). Had promising recs from my teachers in US, had an interview too. Guys, you must be fortunate with acceptance from such college and freedom to consider it a safety school. Best of luck
This may be a silly question, but can anyone who got accepted to Colby request to join the 2023 Facebook group, even if they haven’t fully decided (still waiting on more decisions, but Colby is definitely a likely)?
@toomanykiddos No, not a silly question. The answer is yes, it’s open to all accepted students.

Ahhh got into Colby after finding out waitlisted at UChicago
got into Colby - did not expect this to happen at all!! international student with a 4.0 weighted GPA and 1450 SAT.
@NoClue123 I was accepted with out interview but did a lot to show interest
waitlisted but got into Bowdoin
Man, it’s really hard to get 700+ on SAT verbal+writing. How do you guys get it? Took 3x, got 600 ugh!!!, but math- it’s like a toddler’s math (800 3x on SAT and 800 on SAT II - who doesn’t?). But, wait!!! Finished the so-called “15 minutes in 5-6 minutes” and that “55 minutes or sth in 15-16 minutes [not bragging and not lying at all. I used stop-watch for the count down. {Also, I used to finish 3 hours Math exam in 1 hr and still end up getting 100/100 in Math ( with the teacher’s response → ‘splendid’ approach to geometry and the calculus problems) and it has not a single multiple choice question}, but meaning to tell how easy and invigorating Math is”.] My friends advised me to take the ACT (its exam center is 15 km away from my home) rather than the SAT. And now, I am repenting over not taking the ACT, thusly I have been hearing rejections after rejections.
And, here it’s Colby- REJECTED!!!
After all, this is the story of a poor, humble Asian international student - dreaming to change the world- applying in the USA for Mathematics major!!!
Hi, I didn’t request an interview but was accepted
Daughter rejected. 1480 SATs, 5.12 WGPA, 3.97 UWGPA, 13 I think AP courses, seven extracurriculars (all arts/dance). Did not interview or tour. This is her first decision email and she’s worried about what the rejection bodes for the future!
@lucyjo don’t worry too much. Admissions are ‘random’ or ‘subjective’ for some extent. Your D will get one of her favorites soon!
@lucyjo my D got WL Colby, but ended up with Yes’s from Bowdoin and Bates. Things are pretty subjective but tend to work out.
I wonder if Colby accepts appeals – Anyone knows? I submitted my application way too early and now I have a SAT that’s 150points higher, a better GPA (due to the first semester of my senior year), awards etc.
My daughter is a Senior at Colby College. Colby is very competitive! Someone else here said the acceptance rate is now around 11%. Colby is considered a “little ivy” meaning it is in a group of small, liberal arts colleges that are a step down from an Ivy League school. My daughter was rejected by Amherst but I can say we liked Amherst because it was nearer to where we live. She loves Colby though! Her stats were GPA 4.7 weighted and a 33 ACT. Going forward Colby doesn’t require SAT or ACT scores apply.
Accepted as Bunche Scholar!
1370 SAT, 3.7 GPA
