@Aralis You need to e-mail them right now and get your portal. That is the only way to read your acceptance (or even know if your application was all set)
For those interested, Colby College’s Twitter Account tweeted on March 16th that decisions are scheduled to be released on Friday, March 25th.
Do you think they’d let us know if they changed the date?
^ Yeah most probably
Another applicant here. Good luck everyone
No shame: only applied here because it was free (probs rejected because of it)
Not gonna lie that’s the reason I applied too. It still seems like a cool school though
They are a school that definitely considers interest so if you showed none and your app just showed up you will probably get rejected unless you have absolutely insane stats (4.0 UW GPA, crazy high SATs etc.)
Yeah I showed interest after I looked into it. Just at first my sole reason was a free app haha
Does anyone know what time on 3/25 notifications will be released?
I got an early write in the mail today! I thought it was a rejection letter and was confused, but when i opened it it turned out to be an early write.
Good luck everyone tomorrow! You all have amazing profiles and Colby would be privileged to have you in there community.
best wishes
-Lucas
@goldy410 idk… I demonstrated no interest and had really low SATs. Good GPA extracurricular activities and I am a URM. But I was admitted early to their summer science program and college.
@Lukenod wow congrats! I may have been exaggerating with that comment. What I mean is basically Colby considers interest more than other schools do because they want to increase their yield
I didn’t show any interest at all, (also didn’t show any interest in Grinnell either except for writing the optional essay at the last minute, which i ended up liking better and was probs waitlisted because of it), which I am 95% sure will result in a rejection, with the other 5% being waitlisted.
I mean to be honest you really cant display interest in this college. Its out in the boondocks and for a college that I could fly to for free, is still far away. Secondly, there was no optional essay to express how much you like the achool. And finally, i know it sounds repeated, but how are you suppose to visit the place when its in the middle of nowhere? Lol… They probably know you really cant display ‘interest’ in the school to your potential so we can rule that out.
I believe the only indicators they use to consider interest in the college is visits and interviews (since they are not required)
Emailing admissions counselors to get in touch with a student, emailing professors, going to a college fair, and going to a college admissions visit in your area are all ways of showing interest without schlepping all the way there if it is too long a trip for you
I love Colby.
Colby is a 20 min drive to state capital, and another hour or so to Portland. Colby is in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Colby is currently investing its own funds to reinvigorate the town of Waterville. It seems it wasn’t a good fit for you, and that’s cool. If you look a little more at the quality of the instruction, the beauty of the school, the progressive “No Loan” format of their financial aid…Location becomes much less of an issue.

I had the luxury of visiting several colleges and universities, 17 in all. I live just outside Nashville…Southwest and Jet
Blue fly twice a day nonstop to BOS, starting at 59$ each way. Direct buses to Colby, also run daily, also around $59.
It took me less than 8 hrs to get there.
Flight was less than 3 hrs.
Dad drove rental from BOS, not much traffic 15 miles out.
I took a bunch of friends with me to visit Emory, another really great school. After the tour, we decided to hit a concert in Atlanta… took us almost 2 hrs to get there, from EMORY! Ever tried to drive in Houston traffic, google image it…Rice is one of the finest schools in the WORLD, but Houston has the worst traffic in the US. It took us an hour and a half to get to mall in Houston, from Rice also in Houston. Location is relative.
Its hard for me to get away working at American Airlines. And i meant more or so on the common app,i would have loved to have a personal essay to show how much I loved Colby. Hard to get up there especially from Florida, when the flights to BGR are oversold on the daily. I have a deep history with Colby but i couldnt share it
@brunifan No idea. I’m assuming by 6pm EDT.
