Colby Regular Decision 2022

Hey everyone! I thought that I would create a chain on here for Regular Decision since there wasn’t one yet! So does anyone know when we hear back?

Hey, it’s said to be on the 16th of March. But I’m not 100% sure of the source.
International applicant here

I saw March 16th as well, so I think that’s the date decisions will be released (or sometime around then).

Hi! I saw you on McGill’s post

Hopefully mid-march

@afisher623 I saw that decisions come out on March 16th somewhere but I don’t know if that’s the true date or not.

Oh ok that’s pretty good compared to other schools who release in April

At one point I, too saw the March 16 date posted here: https://www.colby.edu/admission/apply/first-year/

But you’ll now see that it says on or before Apr. 1

@afisher623 It’s not the absolute date. I checked on the website and it said by April 1. This link (https:// docs . google . com/spreadsheets/d/1iaiX1IvmjECnGD-7cfIjix6VGiiWVlTLlJKyFRUeLfc/edit#gid=1996231792) however says the 16th. I think it will come sometime around then.

Did any of you visit to show demonstrated interest? Trying to decide if it’s important for us to make the longish trip to Maine for our S19 who will apply to Colby RD.

@homerdog Not really besides meeting with AOs when they’ve visited my school. I’ve also met with an astronomy professor but nothing demonstrated besides that to the admissions office.
If you do visit Maine, do it in the early fall when school is in session. Maine’s gorgeous at that time! I’m from central Maine a little bit north of Colby so let me know if you have any questions!

I applied ED1 and I think my demonstrated interest was a big factor in my acceptance. In addition to touring, open house, and interviewing, I would send emails to various Colby professors and my state’s admissions rep with questions I had about Colby. My interest was genuine, and I think that was conveyed in inquiries. Every interaction you have with the college is documented and reviewed as part of your application. I will admit this is not required to be accepted, but I think it helped me a lot in the end. Especially for someone with lower stats… just ask questions- they love to answer them; however, don’t be fake and ask something you could easily find on their website.

I think your son should show demonstrated interest commensurate with how much he really wants to go there and what his stats are like. My daughter, who also applied ED1, did everything prospective student above did, except for emailing professors. However, she talked quite a lot to the coach of the varsity team she will be part of. Her stats were on point for Colby. If your son is only somewhat interested in Colby, I might not go to the trouble of visiting unless accepted. If your son is really interested, but applying RD in order to review financial packages from all his choices, I think it is a good idea to show lots of demonstrated interest. It’s also a good idea to show interest to try and offset lower stats, if that should be the case for him next year.

Our son visited the campus for an official tour (after which he decided that is was clear and away his first choice), had an interview with the admissions rep when she was in our area and also attended the info session she held at his high school. He applied ED1, was deferred, but ultimately was admitted.

As @lettuceK suggests, show demonstrated interest commensurate with how much he really wants to go there. If Colby is high on his list, I think it would be worthwhile to make the trek to not only show interest, but to confirm that it really is a place that he would want to go.

@frazzledazzle - could you please repaste that link? It did not seem to work. Thank you.

@InquiringMom3 On the link I posted I added spaces. CC doesn’t let people post links. Did you remove them when you tried to access it?

I also made a spreadsheet for all the ones my D visited too and when I made it last fall I also had mid March listed but the website does say April 1st now. However one of her other colleges also says April 1st and has been doing rolling acceptance / wait list decisions for a month now. So guess the latest date is what they want to publish and maybe it will be sooner. It also says for Colby admission & financial aid offers, so maybe the admission is still closer to mid march and financial aid later?

Anyways good luck to everyone, one of her friends got in early decision already who is from the same school with similar stats and community involvement but was recruited by a coach. I think the recruitment and to be honest her friend probably showed a TON of interest in her interview as Colby was 1000xs her top school so we will see how my D does.

@frazzledazzle - yes I saw those spaces and deleted them…what I didn’t see at first was a % added for some reason after http! In any case, was able to access it now – thank you!

what are my chances RD, 30 ACT 96.01 gpa no financial aid

How are applicants notified? Portal? Email? Snail mail?
