colby v. wellesley?

differences? similiarities ?

The most obvious difference, of course, is that Wellesley is a women's college and Colby is not. Only you can decide how big an issue that is for you. As someone who attended a women's college many years ago, I'd say don't underestimate how different your life will be if you attend one. That doesn't mean you won't like it--many women do. Others really dislike the experience.

Wellesley is beautiful, offers an outstanding academic experience and is in the Boston area, so there are other schools nearby. You still have to make an effort to get to those schools or into Boston, though. Getting around the Boston area, particularly late at night, may be a little more involved than people from outside the area would think.

Waterville isn't much of a town and Colby is very self-contained. Social life is based on the campus and people seem pretty open and friendly. Social life seems to evolve pretty naturally as people meet in classes, dorms, sports and other activities. You don't have to go far looking for it, which is good because there isn't much of anyplace to go. Academically Colby is also excellent though probably not as well-known as Wellesley.
