did you? when should one expect to hear from admissions about waitlists?

it says late april to early may on their wait list faq. i still haven’t sent a letter yet, i’m writing one right now though, and it should be finished in the near future… eek.

FYI…Best of luck to you wherever you end up.

No waitlist decisions are taken yet. Even if they make any offers, they will not begin until next week.

My counselor called them (even I said not to!) and this was their answer.

Okay, thanks for letting us know. Hopefully we will all get some happy letter this week!

D just received email that Colby is not going to the waitlist this year.

stbentia
Was the email in response to an email your daughter sent to Colby or was it unsolicited?

I didn’t get any such email but my counselor got an email regarding the waitlist. The email said that Colby’s class is fully subscribed as of then. And they also informed a few waitlist students that they will not consider them. But there is still an active waitlist now.

So those who didn’t get any email, you are in the active waitlist.

My son just got accepted to Boston College (off their wait list). As such, he sent an email to Colby admissions Friday night informing them of his decision to withdraw his acceptance. I hope this opens up a spot for another student on Colby’s wait list!!! Good luck!!

We have indeed contacted some of the students on the wait list to let them know that we will not be able to offer them admission because our class, as of today, is fully subscribed.

However, because we know that there is considerable wait list activity at some of the colleges with which we have significant overlap, we are not certain whether or not space will open in our class by early June. As a result, there are a number of students on our wait list whose files still remain open; if we have space in our class become available, we will contact these students to offer them admission.

We wish everyone the best of luck. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you have any questions.

Could you tell us how many files are still open?

By the way, ColbyCollegeComm: Thank you

@ColbyCollegeComm, Thank you for clarifying.

In hindsight, the message Colby sent to D did not explicitly state that the wait list was closed. However, it seemed–to us anyway at the time–to imply it: “…At this time, we remain well above our enrollment goals for the 2013-14 academic year. Even allowing for some students to change their minds over the summer, we now know that we will be unable to offer you admission to the Colby College Class of 2017.”

We appreciate that Colby let D know as soon as possible after a decision about her application was finalized. I apologize if we caused confusion to Colby wait list candidates whose files remain open.

@notgivingup (& others), Best wishes to you for securing admission from Colby’s wait list.

Thanks, stbentia. Best of luck to your daughter.

Waitlist action is over now! Good Luck with your future everyone ;)
