Accepted as an Alumni Memorial Scholar
@kitten2399 Thank you for the encouragement I also agree that we should have faith despite this setback! Hope you get accepted into one of ur dream schools:):)
Waitlisted and I’m pretty happy with it.
waitlisted with 1550 SAT and 4.4 gpa, National Merit Finalist, national music honors society, 8 AP classes, volunteer work and tons of EC and great recommendations. I also have Harvard credits from taking a summer semester there. Not to sound arrogant but how did I not get in??
Accepted as Alumni Memorial Scholar!! But not enough aid, so don’t think I’ll be going.
@musicnotes12, maybe the Tufts syndrome. There is still a chance with waitlist !!
My child was accepted 1500 SAT and 4.0, I am really happy, with a pretty good financial package.
You are all amazing and great things will happen. Congrats to all accepted and those denied … everything is going to work out!!
@musicnotes12 There could’ve been one factor to your decision or none at all. Like one of my computer science professors would say everything is like a black box. A black box is a device in which you can input (your app) something and you get a random output (decisions) without knowing any of its internal fuctions. In this situation it could be said that college admissions is like a black box. Anways, don’t let Colgate decision discourage you! With your impressive stats I feel like you can get into Harvard if you applied.
Accepted!
3.78 GPA / 32 SC ACT
Prestigious Catholic School
and unique EC’s
@kitten2399 Thank you! That is a good analogy and very helpful
Accepted as an Alumni Memorial Scholar! Does anyone know how many admits are chosen to be an AMS?
Stats:
1550 SAT
3.96 UW GPA
Rigorous course load, took a total of 5/7 AP classes offered at my school (I also took AP Psych online since my school didn’t offer it)
Decent ECs, not many awards but ECs reflected my interests
Essays were pretty good, I liked my CA essay more than than my Colgate supplement
Other College Decisions so far:
Accepted: UVM, Northeastern, Boston University
Waitlisted: WUSTL, JHU, UChicago, Bowdoin, Bates
Rejected: None yet
Rejected
Accepted.
32ACT/3.9GPA and 10 AP classes
I was accepted but received no financial aid…How is Colgate with appealing for some money?
Just looking at the numbers here on this thread, it seems like a high proportion are waitlisted, which probably means the likelihood of getting admitted off the waitlist is low. So far, we have 15 accepted, 8 rejected, and 7 waitlisted. The high number accepted probably reflects that people on CC are high caliber candidates (obviously, we are obsessed). So I wouldn’t assume the percentage waitlisted is as high as our number, but if it’s proportionally similar, the waitlist would be well above 1,000 students, of which they accepted 33 last year.
My son was accepted to Colgate today. He had a 33 ACT, don’t know his GPA but B+ range. Top NYC private school. Decent ECs. Only other school he’s heard from so far was Colby (waitlisted) and Amherst ED (deferred)
Dang it! @neuroscience27 I was really hoping that you’d get in
Rejected
Accepted!
35 ACT
790 Math II Sat2, 750 Lit Sat2
~3.8 GPA (it’s an estimate because my school doesn’t record GPA)
Good ECs, including a long-term science research project and multiple leadership positions
Good recs (I’m guessing) including an extra one from my research advisor who wrote it out of her own volition (basically she wrote it without me asking her to)
I really liked my CA essay; my Colgate supplement was decent but a bit last minute
Other decisions I’ve received so far:
Accepted: UVM w/Pres. Scholarship
Waitlisted: Bowdoin
Rejected: none yet
D18–Waitlisted

Any ideas on why she was waitlisted?
Waitlised.
