My son was waitlisted. Congratulations to those that got in. This process with all the schools he’s applied to continues to baffle me. His Stats are very good, GPA 3.96, NHS, 7 AP classes, Choir, Drama, Robotics, ACADEC. He was denied ED at Brown, denied at Colby, waitlisted at Colgate, waiting on Dartmouth, Williams, Amherst and Wesleyan. How can it be possible for a student who has worked so hard is struggling this much to get into college?

No. My S19 goes to Bowdoin.

Oh, nice! I remember when you joined you had a picture of Bowdoin.

I’m an intl requiring full aid, but have all rejections and waitlist at URich, and I’m a self-made person.
Recently, on 22nd of March, a research paper of mine had been published and I rushed to inform all my colleges asap, in hopes of it might help me. Let’s see what happens.

Just hang in there and he will get the best. Know this year has been very crazy

DS not accepted…had outstanding stats, essays and letters but was needing full financial aid and school is need aware so that may have played a large part. As an aside - I read the letter they posted and it was one of the most tasteless letters I’ve ever seen…very low class on their part. Maybe someone else should be writing those letters for the Director of Admissions

same lol, but I don’t think we do have an option now.
I’ve been working my ass off whole my life, and never even thought I’d be applying to US one day, but it all just happened. I’m not saying that I’m the best, but the circumstances I came from and what I’ve achieved in context to it, it really makes a difference.

And seeing all straight rejections coz of the reason that I don’t have big-bucks is very demotivating though

son waitlisted. congrats and good luck, everyone!

It kind of depends on what the college is looking for. There are so many factors that go into decisions. I got waitlisted at 4 schools I had really high stats for. Good luck to your son and I’m sure everything will work out in the end.
