My recommendations are awesome as I am the favourite of both the teachers.
My desired course is Physics.

My dream college is Cornell. I am otally obsessed with Cornell. But I am afraid that I might be rejected and waste my Early Decision option. I’ve been thinking of aplying to Colgate, but still my heart is at Cornell. I haven’t slept for two days due to this tension.
Please suggest me what to do?

And yeah, thanks for reading such long a post

I don’t have the answer to your question but as an International student who is also applying to US, I want to say good luck  and whatever college you will get into, you will bring a whole lot of package…just don’t be depressed , at this point you can’t do much, your application is already amazing  so trust yourself a little and wherever you are , I hope u will be happy

RD vs. ED is tricky, and being an international applicant might complicate your decision. According to http://www.collegeconfidential.com/dean/early-decision-for-international-student-needing-financial-aid/, applying ED to Cornell might be in your best interests (assuming you want need-based aid). You might want ask this question on Cornell’s forum, though, since each college’s ED process is slightly different. Just make sure you’re doing enough research.

Are you applying to any other schools? Colgate is still a pretty selective school.

Colgate is not a “fit” school for you.

By the way, this difficult decision (ED vs. RD) will almost certainly NOT affect your admissions decisions, so don’t stress about it.

You could apply to Cornell in their only ED round, and if you are not accepted, then apply to Colgate in their ED 2 round.
Of course, before applying anywhere ED you need to address some of the issues raised above, like whether the academic offerings are a good match for your interests.

“Colgate is not a ‘fit’ school for you.” (#3)

Why? Colgate offers ~20 courses in physics and has produced an Apker Award recipient (for undergraduate research in physics).

If your heart is with Cornell it’s worth the ED. I got in RD to Cornell with a similar SAT score for the class of 2020.

What are my chances in Cornell vs. Chances in Colgate? @merc81 @siliconvalleymom

Because you are fully qualified for both of your choices, your likelihood of acceptance to these schools would relate to, and probably be somewhat higher than, their overall acceptance rates.

Though I’d personally apply ED only to the school I regarded as my firm preference, available information tends to indicate that ED can substantively affect admissions odds.

Make sure Cornell knows it is your dream school. They probably don’t hear that as much as they would like to.

Cornell will be changing their current need-blind admissions review for international students for the class that enters in Fall 2017 to a need-aware review process.

Re #10, worth noting would be that Cornell’s admission yield was recently 53% and higher than that for schools such as Dartmouth and Duke.

I am also thinking of Transferring to Cornell once i get into Colgate.

You should not apply ED to a school that you plan to transfer from-time to do your research again. Have you tried the free SuperMatch tool on the left side of this page?

@sahil123. If you are in love with Cornell, I am sure you can at least have a crush on University of Rochester and Rensselaer Polytech. Colgate is a fabulous school but very different than Cornell.

You could also get a scholarship at those two and you could visit all three together.
