Colgate or Johns Hopkins

at this point, im leaning towards choosing colgate even though hopkins is more prestigious

Colgate or Tufts?

and im also leaning towards colgate even though tufts is more prestigious

So what happened between 3:17 and 8:04 stone, to tip your thinking?

JHU and Tufts are both somewhat more prestigious perhaps (but fractionally) otherwise, no comparison in size, quality of life, lifestyle, class size, prof interaction and access to research (undergrads can get positions at Colgate but won't at JHU).

the main thing is the difficulty of work at hopkins- i plan to work hard in college, but the JHU environment is a little too cutthroat and in your face for me, and i believe that im at the bottom 25% of accepted students there.... second, i think the smaller class sizes at colgate would help me learn better

Jvhowube, I'm trying to decide between Colgate and Tufts too... but I think I'm leaning towards Tufts.

tufts social life suuuuuuuuuuckssssss... i went ther overnight once

Well now for me, its between Colgate, Middlebury, and Tufts. I have no idea what I'm gonna decide now.

I may be uniquely qualified to answer this one because I went to Colgate and my brother to JHU. He got into Colgate too and I think regrets not going to the 'Gate. JHU may be minimally more well known (mostly because of famous grad school), but to me (and retrospect him) is not worth the more complete, more community feel and less stressful and more fun environment at Colgate. I think as far as job placement that Colgate actually does better than JHU in anything non science related.

Middlebury is an awesome school too Jvho, it's just smaller than 'gate.
