I know this is a bit early but I haven’t seen a discussion up for RD yet… good luck everyone!!
Bumping this thread in case it gets lost under all of the ED posts.
Got the email today that they need my mid-year senior grades, but my school said that they send those automatically to all common app schools. Do I wait, or should I email them and say that I can’t send those myself?
They know you cannot send them yourself They will only accept them directly from the school. You should only stress to get them to them quickly if you want to switch to ED II and get answers right away (the do rolling ED II admissions, so you will get answers very quickly…we got my sons in 3 days). They do need a 100% completed application though before you go to committee. Otherwise, I am sure your school will get them to them fairly soon and in plenty of time for RD committee. I think most schools do these around late February. Consider EDII if it is a top choice for you, it really makes a difference.
Do decisions come out on April 1st for RD?
They emailed me saying I have to link my fafsa to the IRS but it won’t let me do that… I sent the school an email but is there anything else I could do?
@cakeisgreat I think the week before, so around the 21st or so?
Also, I submitted the app that was due on Jan 15th at 10:30 pm that day. I got confirmation from CommonApp that it was submitted and the payment went through that night. However, on my portal, it says they received all my info on the 16th, and now CommonApp says it was downloaded the 16th. Does that mean my application was technically late? Colgate’s super exclusive so I feel like they wouldn’t be forgiving but I did submit it on time.
Call admissions on Monday. They should be there, as that is the first day of class. They can verify it for you. My guess is that there is an overnight download and they know it comes the next day, but I would certainly be 100% sure so you know you are in the running. This way, if there was a computer error, you have plenty of time to fix it. You could also email your state’s admissions officer and she/he can check it for you. Ask any other admissions questions you might have and it may also help you to connect with your CAC.
@maddie9691 referring to your fafsa irs question, they told me that too. However, since my family doesn’t submit their taxes electronically it is a huge headache to use that tool. My dad emailed the Colgate Financial Aid Office and explained our situation. They said that using the irs retrieval tool is not a requirement, however I would email them if I were you just to make sure.
As for when you submitted the app, I wouldn’t worry too much since the university processed your payment and hasn’t emailed you saying they didn’t accept the app. Usually schools have a little bit of flexibility in their dates
does anyone know what day the decisions are expected to come out? or does anyone know what day they came out in the past?
I have seen past RD threads say the last week or so in March, as early I think, as March 21. The official date, I believe, is April 1, but based on history, that seems to usually be moved up. They do allow you to change to EDII until March 1 and those decisions are rolling, so if Colgate is your #1 choice, you do have that option, which really ups your chances of getting in! Good luck.
RD decision will be on March 23 at 1:13 PM according to Colgate web site under news article discussing the ED class of 2023
does colgate ask for “additional financial info” to admitted students before admissions? I’ve heard of dartmouth and princeton doing this, but not idea about colgate…
@badbarracuda - I can’t say for sure. We were required to do the farm/business supplements. It was a huge pain, but when I called financial aid to inquire as to what exactly they needed, it sounded like it was just standard for all applicants whose parents have their own businesses.
Did any of you guys receive a message from Naviance saying that Colgate University wants to Connect with you?
Best of luck for decisions! 23rd from what I hear!
“If you are receiving this email but your plans no longer include Colgate, please let us know prior to Wednesday afternoon, March 20.”
Did everyone else have this as part of the email from Colgate about the release date?
@blvck_pvnther yes. pretty sure it was included for everyone
Received email last week on March 13 @ 8:23 pm EST… which when you add 8:23 together is 13. Email did indicated if the plan no longer includes statement… but then gave details that decisions would be released at 1:13 pm (military 13:13) on March 23. I knew they celebrated 13.
@justHere2001 ok. Was just checking.
