Colgate University Reviews

I've recently become really interested in Colgate University; they've been sending me an endless flow of information haha.

Can anybody who's been to Colgate/are currently at Colgate tell me the REAL goods and bads of the school?

It has an excellent reputation. Its in upstate remote New York. Its cold in the winter. But its pretty and a very attractive campus. I know someone who graduated from Colgate and loved it. And yes, the school was endowed by the founder of Colgate Palmolive Co. So make sure you have a pretty smile. Just kidding. Its in the Patriot League of Div. 1-A sports, and that is a heady group of academic schools. Its relatively small if that is important to you. The only problem I see with it is its location is not easy to get to, but then again, neither is Dartmouth. Or Hamilton College.

I suggest you visit if you have a strong interest. Good Luck to you.

I have a niece who graduated from Colgate and a S who attends. They both love it. It is an LAC, but actually one of the bigger ones by LAC standards--a little under 3000 students.

It is Div 1-A sports and hockey and football games are well attended. There is an active greek system, but my N was independent and had no problem socially. It is very strong academically, there is a lot to do on campus, but it is in a very small town. Many students have cars, so trips are made for shopping in Syracuse and Utica--not to far.

Oh, and there is snow!

It's an absolutely phenomenal school IMO. Would've loved to go to Colgate; didn't get any FA. :(
