Today Colgate’s President Brian Casey announced an amazing vision for Colgate’s future after three years of planning. It includes many very ambitious proposals to take the school into its third century. Very, very exciting. This is the kind of leadership we need to take higher education to the next level. Colgate already has the money to do all the proposed “first steps.” Here is a link to his speech:

Middle class students are becoming rare at the T20 liberal arts colleges. Hopefully Colgate ending all loans for families that earn less than $125K will begin to change that.
In addition to eliminating loans for incoming freshman, Colgate is also eliminating loans for all currently enrolled students whose family income is less than $125,000/yr. Very impressive.
This is great. Is this law apply to international students too? How generous is Colgate when it comes to International Students, esp south Asian students?
I have heard aid at Colgate doesn’t support study abroad, research, and so on. Can someone illustrate the facts?
There is no “law” but there is always a process in place to manage the variables that apply to financial aid policies. If you want to know more you might as well contact the colleges you are interested in and supply whatever information they ask for in order to receive some useful and usable guidance.
Good luck with your college application efforts!
We are looking forward to this new initiative for fall 2020. My daughter is currently a freshman. She has a FWS plus subsidized loan as part of her FA. She hasn’t had a success finding a job though. Still we are excited to see what happens next year.
