Our daughter is deciding between these two schools-any advice?

DEFINITELY colgate. They both have the same liberal arts-ish vibe, but the bottom line is colgate is a much better school. It will definitely pay off in the end.

What is her major btw? Colgate probably has a better program whatsoever.

thinking of a bio major though we are encouraging her to keep an open mind and take advantage of a liberal arts education. We were really impressed with the career planning at HWS in particular. Also concerned about whether there are options for a social life other than drinking and patying…

I’ve heard some not-so-good things about HWS concerning partying.

remove the space between “students” and “review”

It seems HWS is filled with alcohol filled rich kids.

Colgate too is a liberal arts school. A bio major would definitely have more resources at a school as presitigious as Colgate.

But alas, the only person who should have any say in the decision is your daughter. Whatever she feels best about is the right choice in the end.

Colgate has excellent resources and research opportunities for bio majors.

Where are you from? In my HS, HWS was viewed as a safety for those applying to Colgate…

Pretty familiar with both of these…Colgate is defintely regarded in most academic circles as the better school mainly based on selectivity for admisssions. We’ve had students from our school get into HWS that didn’t come close to getting into Colgate, Hamilton, or U of Rochester yet they are all about the same price. You can look at it two ways…be above average coming into HWS and perhaps be a shining star or perhaps not find the students there as serious as you are??
