I’ve narrowed my colleges down to these three. I’ve liked all of the schools and really don’t know what to do. I plan on pursuing a career in business, but that can definitely change. Would anyone mind sharing their thoughts? Also if I were to major in Econ at Colgate how would this compare to going to a true business school? Thanks
Make sure that you go to accepted students day - that should help simplify your decision
then if needed make a pro/con chart and see if that clarifies it
Colgate, despite not having a business school, is very plugged in to wall street and finance type jobs, so no worries about that with a degree from Colgate. These schools have more similarities than differences
Three great schools and any one of them would be a fine choice. My only comment is that it is important to understand that economics and finance are different majors. Economics is a liberal arts course of study and gets very theoretical at the upper levels. In contrast if you go to an undergraduate business school you will take a business core with introductory classes in subjects such as accounting, finance, IT, marketing etc. and then you will major in one of those disciplines. I’m not saying that one path is better than the other, but they there are notable differences. I would take the time to look at the coursework (can be found online) for an economics major at Colgate and compare it to the business school curriculum offered at the other two schools and see if one path is preferable to you.
Thanks so much. Socially would you say there are many differences? Ive heard that Lehigh has been cracking down on Greek life. if so, how has this affected the social scene?
Oh and no longer considering Richmond. I visited today and just really wasn’t feeling it.
What did you not like about Richmond?
Just wondering about your general impressions and the “feel” that you didn’t like.
I am visiting UR on Saturday.
I definitely liked it, and Richmond is a really cool area.
I don’t know if this makes any sense, but the school kind of felt like a camp to me. As someone who is pretty quiet, I was just really overwhelmed.
