Collect The Waitlist Numbers By School

Princeton has about 1300… they expect half, or “several hundred” to accept their spot. They will probably take only 100… maybe up to 150.

What is the point of such enormous waitlists? It’s cruel; the schools know they will not take anywhere near that number.

I heard Northeastern Waitlisted 4600 students this year.

does anyone know about the University of Minnesota’s waitlist number?

@ (z)

I think, or so i’ve heard, that its just because they want a variety of talents and demographics to choose from.

The size of the lists is about the economy. While the very top private colleges will probably not see significant difference in their yields, many private colleges will because many will have a hard time justifying their price this year.

Colleges have also long used wait list as a kinder way of rejecting certain types of candidates such as legacies, kids from feeder schools, kids from schools and places where the want more future applicants from, those who an alum wrote a strong letter for and so on.

Think about it, the size of these lists are ridiculous, with many of these colleges including high yield ivies waitlisting more than the total number in the freshmen class!

Just clarifying. The big waitlist numbers list on the previous page is for the college class of 2012. (just look at the date it was posted)

Haha wow, my bad. I just got punked by the revival of a thread. Well that’s Yale’s waitlist number for this year :)

anyone know how many are on the waitlist this year for Emory? i’m assuming the economy is going to affect it. college ******* says 800 accepted spots on the waitlist and 147 were accepted by Emory, but i’m assuming it should be different this year.

i know last year there were 475 on Bentley’s waitlist and only 15 were accepted, but i don’t know how many are on it this year…

I’ve been looking for Elon and U of Richmond. Any help?

Here is Elon’s numbers from last year.

Number of qualified applicants offered a place on waiting list 2,754
Number accepting a place on the waiting list 1,215
Number of wait‐listed students admitted 90

Hard to say what will happen this year. Elon is now considered a first choice school for quite a lot of students as well as a second or third choice for many students reaching for top 10 schools. So maybe more spaces will open up because some accepted students will choose the Ivys. On the other hand Elon (by philosophy) keeps their tuition well below comparable schools and this year they likely will once again have their pick of top students. Time will tell Krisjess, but I wish you lots of luck
