College about College Admissions

So, me and 2 other friends from my HS are planning on applying to Stanford U.
We're all top 3 people.. anyways, one of my friends was saying that if one of us gets accepted, then the other 2 are out- cus they wont take more than 1 person from our school, or whatever.

Anyways, I was wondering if that's true, or partly true? Does other people being accepted affect their decisions at all?

Thanks

Hi, I know a girl at another school and she says a ton of people from her school were accepted to Stanford, and I’m guessing she meant at least more than three. We’re in-state, if that matters; no one at my school got into Stanford this year, though.

Not true. Your schools does come into play as an admissions factor (school stats, # of grads that typically get into top schools, etc), but not the other people applying in this admissions season.

Eh, our school (not in California) had 3 students accepted into Stanford from the same year. So, no, if one of you gets in, the other two aren’t out of the running. That being said, I do think it matters that you’re all in the same school, as colleges like to pick students from around the nation (and world) and not from the same region (definitely not the same school). I still think the impact of this is small compared to the other parts of your application though.

thanks, appreciate it

Some schools in CA regularly have 30+ people accepted per year. This is one of the biggest myths in college admissions, so don’t worry about it.
