Ok So I'm a senior in high school and my over all GPA is a 3.29 My school has 4 classes each semester and I have 3 A's and 1 low D right now in math. I've just finished applying for all of my colleges and I was wondering if i get accepted into any of the colleges can they revoke me for my low math grade, even if it's an F? What about if i retake the math class next semester?

Why give up now? There’s still plenty of time to bring up that math grade! I wouldn’t even consider retaking a class until I was absolutely sure flunking it was inevitable. Go for tutoring if you must; ask the teacher what you can do to get at least a C, but don’t just assume you’ll get an F. (Oh, and it can’t hurt to mention your “lifelong struggle with math” in one of your essays.)

What’s the reason for the D/F.

The short answer is that a school can revoke an acceptance. The longer answer is they really really don’t want to do so. With three As, it doesn’t look like you’re slacking off (one of the major reasons for a revocation). If you’re not a STEM student where Math is key, it may not be critical.

Obviously, the best advice is do whatever you can to pull up the grade. Go in for extra help whenever it’s offered, etc. I assume you’ve heard this before.

Retake course – your GC would know better than any of us.

The UC schools in CA can revoke for a D since that is not a passing grade (eg C-), as can many other schools.

Well i’ve always struggled in math since elementary school- back then i was in a special ed type of math class every year. In middle school I got mostly D’s and high school C’s in math. I’ve always done well in other subjects though, the only thing that’s really been bringing down my gpa is math…
And thanks!-yea i have been going in for tutoring/ extra help and i even sit in the front of the room. It’s just math is so difficult for me… i’m trying and i have not given up, just wondering what could happen… so i’m prepared.
