College Acceptances: celebrate here!

marny and yankeegirl, I meant no offense. Sorry!! I just had a brain cramp. To quote Bugs (Bunny not Seigel), "What a maroon".

Congrats on USC. Great school. Is your D applying to Clemson as well? Big game this weekend. Who is she rooting for?

Son was accepted to College of Charleston on 11/16. It was posted online, so I did call admissions to confirm. Since we are from WV, I can see we may be explaining for the next four years that he is going to Charleston, SC, not Charleston, WV! :)

HEY EVERYONE....

THIS THREAD, AS MENTIONED FROM THE START, IS FOR SHARING ACCEPTANCES AND CAN BE USED FOR DISCUSSION BACK AND FORTH FOR EACH SITUATION AND FOR CONGRATULATORY MESSAGES AND THE LIKE. AS SKYHAWK POSTED ON THE FORUM ELSEWHERE, WE WANT TO CONSOLIDATE ALL THESE TYPES OF POSTs IN ONE PLACE AND NOT HAVE INDIVIDUAL THREADS ON EACH CHILD.

HOWEVER, I AM GOING TO CREATE ANOTHER THREAD AS A STICKY THAT IS JUST FOR A MASTER LIST OF ACCEPTANCEs THAT IS ONGOING AND CAN BE ADDED ONTO. That thread will not have 'discussions" or "congratulatory messages" and is more just raw "data" :)

The format on that thread, therefore would be something like:

CollegeMom's S: Podunk U, Ivy Schmivy, Flagship State
Skyhawk's D: LibArts College ED.

Carry on!
CollegeMom

I'm so confused. I think I'll take a nap. ;)

AHHHHHHH I'm so nervous now! Why didn't I start my rolling applications earlier...I can't wait! This is so nervewrecking! And on top of this, SAT results Monday! Oh my! I don't think I can take it all!

I noticed something very positive about this year's list - last year the list didn't start until after ED acceptances started coming in, even though a number of children had earlier rolling admissions. If we are going to walk the walk in regards to rolling schools, best fit, prestige isn't everything, love thy safety, etc - then we need to be celebrating these early rolling admissions - GOOD JOB EVERYBODY we are following our own advice!!!

Congratulations to all of you for wonderful EARLY WORK!

My DD was accepted to Florida State U and University of Central Florida.

I think CC kids (and parents) are learning from the experiences of those reported here in the past that it is wonderful to have a solid admission in hand early on. Makes it less nerve wracking to take some risks with reach applications, but it also gives you some time to actually consider the early admit school.

In my daughter's case, the rolling school she has already been accepted to has actually moved up her list of favorites even though she considered it "just" a safety when she sent in the application in early October. Now that she knows she's in, and has started receiving accepted student information, she's delighted to find that it is a better fit for her than she had anticipated. The best part is, she has lots of time to visit, weigh it as an option, and picture herself going there.

If all of your fat envelopes come in April, it's awfully hard to sort through options by May.

< - In at University of Pittsburgh.

So even if my six other applications go down the crapper, I'm going to college next year! Woot.

Congratulations Somebodynew!!!

CONGRATS to all of you have received your letters! I can only imagine the excitement. DD checks the mail everyday as she arrives home. She got her common app in early, but one of her teachers was a bit slow in getting started on her teacher recommendation. Fingers Crossed

University of Wisconsin, Madison
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor

Troll alert:
