M is in at Michigan and U of Washington and U of Wisconsin, Madison--waiting on the UC's

more good news for celebrian25..hope the followups on scholarships also are pleasing for you!

Congrats on S's first acceptance (UC Merced), avwh! :) Bobcat Day (open house for admitted students) is on April 8th.

Said it before and I will say it again. Congrats SluggS.

OMG i got into WUSTL early notice. I'm so happy. It's my first selective school i got into. Yay!!!! I just hope the same applies to MIT this saturday.

quote:"Congrats on S's first acceptance (UC Merced), avwh! Bobcat Day (open house for admitted students) is on April 8th."

Thanks. There are 2 or 3 different UC Merced events in April for accepted students. we have to check them out (S has said the campus is "too little/too new" without seeing it - just from the HS scuttlebutt, I guess).

Thus far I've been accepted to:

Knox 10,500 merit
Lawrence
Ohio Wesleyan14,500 merit
Austin College 9,000 merit
Coe College (I applied on a whim and never even finished the application, which was weird.) 10,000 merit

And I've been rejected from:

Reed- ED1

Sluggy Congrats, imiracle911 and TSSSIL! Great choices!

Thanks, Alu! Whether he goes there or not, we're still so pleased that he got into a UC. He threw us a bone last night and said, "Well, it IS a UC..." Then, he said it was hot and dry, and there was nothing to do.

We did not reply because, as you know, we have our mouths duct-taped shut for the rest of the month. He agreed to go see the campus, though, so maybe he'll meet the future Mrs. SluggJr while he's on the tour...nah. Okay, let's say he'll hook up with a his musical doppelganger, the Garfunkel to his Simon. The CUTE bobcat kitten mascot they have adopted at the local zoo was enough to make me want to go! :) Same scuttlebutt here, avwh.

Son has been accepted at UCLA and UC Irvine. The other UC's are out this week, except Berkeley which is #1 for him.

My daughter has been accepted at the URI (Rhode Island) and Emerson and it appears at NYU. Still awaiting word from 6 others to make a final decision. No rejections yet. Columbia is reach school, however was interviewed.

Can I ask what you mean by "it appears at NYU"? Is that a likely letter, or weekend invitation?

I love reading this thread. I understand the rejections are difficult, and it's so wonderful to come to this thread and see the good news too.

We're so happy at our house. D got into USC, so she will have some choices. And sometimes that's the best news: that they have at least 2 schools that want them, and they're back in the driver's seat after feeling very much at the mercy of the college selection process.

sluggbugg- and I thought I was the only one who considered mascots and colors when my kids looked at schools!!

Congratulations, everyone!

My comment of likely into NYU is that she was invited to an event at NYU, "Sunday at the Square.....for outstanding students in the entering class of 2006"
She has yet to receive a formal letter of acceptance, but postings I have noted on this site indicate that if one has received this invite, they are "likely" accepted, thus invited to this event.

Celebrating son's acceptances to Kenyon, Oberlin, Trinity College Dublin and University of Iowa Honors - after a Yale SCEA Deferral, we are thankful for some great choices. Still waiting on Grinnell, Carnegie Mellon and Brown

Congratulations to everyone! SoCalPatty--D got into Irvine and UCLA, too! Those are the only two she has heard from but she really wants to go to the east coast!

RIDAD, congratulations on your daughter being invited to Sunday at the Square at NYU. When you said "appears" I was trying to find out if NYU sends out "likely" letters, or if was, in fact, that invitation. Thanks for clarifying.

CALMOM! Sluggcongrats on CalD's admissions to UC Santa Barbara and U. of Washington! :) Seems like it was just yesterday when you were heading home from the restaurant to help your D finish her college paperwork. Happy days, Calmom and CalD.

slbb52 - Trinity College Dublin! Home of the inestimable Jonathan Swift - he who advised us that if the Irish could just eat their children all would be well, thus defining vicious satire for Western culture! Congrats.

And sluggbugg, if SluggS keeps getting accepted to these respectable and highly regarded unis I will think all your stories were apocryphal. Congratulations on UCDavis.

Yesterday was a good day... son was accepted to Loyola Marymount in LA, UC Santa Cruz, and that brings him to 4/4... he is anxiously waiting for Berkeley!

weaverintl: my son so regrets not applying at Columbia, NYU, Hopkins and Boston U... he only applied to Ca Schools after making 2 trips to the northeast last year to tour!!! Good luck to your daughter!!
